Did you know that some dairy producers take calves away from their mothers soon after birth and ship them away to live in cramped, filthy crates?
This is the sad reality at California’s Mendes Calf Ranch. Calves live in crates so small they can’t even turn around or lie down naturally.
Such cramped conditions are a violation of state animal cruelty laws, which is why the Animal Legal Defense Fund has filed a lawsuit against Mendes Calf Ranch.
But there is something you can do to Free Baby Mendes.
Land O’Lakes and Challenge Dairy are two of the dairy producers who use milk from calves confined at Mendes. It’s time to let them know that this practice is unnecessary — and unacceptable.
