The Director of Development is responsible for working with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Program Managers to craft and execute the strategies needed to meet the organization’s annual and long-term revenue goals. He or she will organize and help to implement the systems, tools, and technology to support fund development activities and fundraising goals.
Description:
- Maximize ALDF’s effectiveness in the areas of high-donor fundraising results, prospect research, and the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with philanthropic organizations, corporations and individuals.
- Collaborate in and develop a work environment that fosters quality teamwork and mutual accountability for high quality performance.
- Oversee the integration of online and offline fundraising communication and results.
- Work with in-house Communications Department, grant writers and consultants to produce, edit, and manage written materials related to fund development, including letters of inquiry, concept papers, proposals, gift acknowledgements, stewardship reports, and letters to donors.
- Work with the online Communications staff to design, implement, and send online fundraising appeals. Stay abreast of developments and pilot efforts to use Web 2.0 tools (online social networks, user-contributed content, friend-to-friend fundraising) for donor engagement.
- Work with online Communications to design, update, and implement donation landing pages and other development Web properties.
- Manage the donor database vendor relationship; maintain development files and tracking.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director on the development of budgets, financial reports to donors, and revenue reports.
- Coordinate the Executive Director’s schedule as it relates to high-donor relations and targeted fundraising opportunities.
- Maintain and cultivate high quality relationships with sponsors and donors.
- Work with bookkeeping staff and Executive Director to prepare reports for the ALDF Board, staff, advisory bodies, and donors.
- Assist with the development and packaging of information to market and communicate the impact and value of the work of ALDF to funding sources and other key audiences.
- Manage ALDF donor cultivation events.
- Generate new fundraising vehicles as opportunities arise.
- Strengthen the planned giving program.
- Stay up to date on animal rights issues.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Manage direct mail vendor relationship and coordinate with them to create, package, and schedule direct mail fundraising appeals and to generate reports on direct mail activities.

Qualifications:
- Professional experience and a record of accomplishment in the area of fundraising. Experience must include managing effectively a development effort and or campaign both online and offline.
- Experience working with high-net worth donors and proven track record of successful fundraising solicitations and meeting fundraising campaign goals.
- Experience with the management of online fundraising campaigns.
- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, manage priorities, and work under pressure.
- Organized, enthusiastic, self-motivated self-starter.
- Excellent writing and editing skills; attention to detail.

- Experience using and managing a donor database is strongly preferred.

Farm Sanctuary has two large farmed animal sanctuaries, one in upstate New York and one in northern California. General description: The position of General Counsel will oversee and address all legal questions and matters that arise at Farm Sanctuary, including the following areas:
- In-house not-for-profit, human resource, education, real estate, contract, liability, insurance and litigation legal matters;
- Animal sanctuary issues, including custody, adoption and liability concerns;
- Campaign legal issues, including with respect to legislative, ballot initiative, litigation, first amendment, and related matters;

The General Counsel will report directly to the Executive Director, and the position will require some amount of time spent in Watkins Glen, New York, although living in Watkins Glen, New York, is not a job requirement.
Qualifications:
J.D. and a preferred minimum of three (3) years legal experience. Candidates must have excellent writing, research and oral advocacy skills. While some background in animal protection is desired, we are primarily interested in someone who is independent, self-starting, resourceful, innovative, hard-working, productive, and who will be a strong and effective advocate for farmed animals as well as a conscientious guardian of the organization’s compliance with any and all legal requirements. Position Overview:

Position Overview:
The Center for Food Safety (CFS) has an immediate need for a highly qualified staff attorney in its San Francisco, CA office.
